World Industries Skateboard - A Great And Veteran Skateboard Company

If you ask anyone why they love skateboarding, they might not able to answer you immediately. This is something that you would feel first and then put into words. Skateboarding is a sport that challenges your inner core in terms of creativity, it is fun and at the same it can be as thrilling as windsurfing. Each person doing those unimaginable, gravity defying feats acts as an inspiration to the next batch of youths who would then join the rank of die-hard skateboard fans.

The Leading World Manufacturers Of Skateboards Are The Most Veteran Companies

World Industries Skateboard

You would think that the leaders would be the one who started late because they would use the latest technology and science to make the best skateboards in the world. However, the truth is different. The place that is earmarked for 'the best' company in the world, already has the title of 'the oldest' n the world. The company in question is the World Industries Skateboard.

This company came into existence late 1987/ beginning of 1988 and has been instrumental in creating the cult of skateboarding that we see today. You could easily say that the World Industries Skateboard has created history - because the World Industries Skateboard is the history of skateboarding. It was the first company which introduced the graphics to the skateboards and it had created a sensation then. Today, nobody - other than complete beginners - can imagine their skateboards without graphics and logos on them.

The same graphics were extended to T-shirts and hoodies it again created a sensation - today it is the order of the day and part and parcel of the skateboarding standards and most accepted clothing styles.

History of the World Industries Skateboard

You would have to thank Steve Rocco and the fate for the birth of the World Industries Skateboard. It so happened that he was fired by the Sims Skateboards and Snowboards and Steve found himself thinking about how to make both ends meet. Since he was adept in the field of skateboarding, he thought that trading would be one of the best things he could try at that time. So, he purchased about 500 skateboards from Santa Monica Airlines skateboard company, the Skip Engblom.

Together with another friend - John Lucero (then working in Black Label) they rented a small warehouse. Later, Rodney Muller bought off John and then the partnership consisted of Steve and Rodney only. Steve then competed for the company along with two others, Feff Hartsel and Jesse Martinez. The name 'World Industries' was initially meant to be a joke which was to highlight their tiny presence.

However, it was their size that actually propelled them into the position of number one over the years. Since the company was small if could easily adapt to the ever changing scenario in skateboarding and thereby kept afloat and often much ahead of their competition. As a result the World Industries Skateboard has developed some unbeatable brands - the Speed Demons, the Darkstar and the Tensor to name a few.

In 2002 the Globe International Limited bought over this veteran company and in June 2007 sold it to Distribution. This is the history of one of the best and maybe the oldest companies of skateboarding in the world.
